Breast Asymmetry Correction

Breast asymmetry here refers to non development (amastia) or underdevelopment (hypomastia) of breast on one side only. This significantly affects the emotional development of an adolescent girl.

Significant breast asymmetry occurs as a result of:
Non development of breast
Lumps in the breast
Breast carcinoma
Post mastectomy

Timing of surgery: Surgery is considered after the normal breast is fully developed which could be after 18-20 years of age or before at periodic intervals if we contemplate to do fat grafting.

Surgical options and the procedure:
Depending upon the available tissue, size of the normal side, you may be considered for Breast implant alone or Tissue expansion followed by breast implant. In case your chest wall muscle is absent, as is seen in Poland syndrome you may require an additional procedure of flap cover (generally muscle from the back) to be rotated, under which an implant can be placed. An additional procedure such as breast lift (if drooping) may be required for the normal breast to attain match to the opposite side. If fat grafting is decided upon, the Doctor will explain the details of the procedure on consultation.

Duration of Surgery: 1-2 hours each surgery

Hospital Stay:Day care surgery

Results and Recovery:
It is one of the gratifying surgery for the patients. Though it is not always possible to give 100% symmetry, but overall results are very satisfying

Cost:The cost can be discussed on consultation.

Note:
Cost includes the surgical fee and day care hospital cost or one day hospital cost in a single room as applicable to a surgery. If for some reason you need/want to stay in hospital for additional time, you will have to pay that separately. Cost will also increase if you choose a superior room.
